The figures come from the number of companies registered with Companies House in the three months to September.
Limavady is outstripping London when it comes to new business start-ups.
Some 50 new Limavady-based companies registered with Companies House in the three months to September.
Those new businesses made up 6.1 per cent of all firms in the area – higher than London, where the figure was 4.9 per cent.
Across Northern Ireland as a whole 1,726 companies registered with Companies House, the UK’s official registrar of businesses, working out as 3.4 per cent of all businesses in the area.
Carrickfergus was the next strongest performer in the area with 4.8 per cent of its current businesses having opened up in the past three months. In Belfast the figure was only 3.1 per cent.
Across the UK as a whole 149,117 companies started up in the third quarter of 2015, the equivalent of 23.1 for every 10,000 people and 4.1 per cent of all the businesses currently registered with Companies House.
Hackney in central London delivered the strongest performance for any local authority area in the UK with 10.7 per cent of its companies having opened between July and September.
At the opposite end of the scale Rutland in the East Midlands was the worst performing area in the country with 1.6 per cent of its companies opening over the same period.
